Branding for Pearson. The NMA's. An office playlist. Cafecito's.

Updates

Our branding project for Toronto Pearson's employee community launched last month. The I Am Toronto Pearson project features a brand refresh, a website update, as well as social media content.

The latest issue of MaRS Magazine (our fifth one together) was published in June for the Collision Conference.

Erik and Joshua judged at the National Magazine Awards, and were invited to a Photo Portfolio Review by Issues Magazine Shop.

Our Creative Director and Associate Creative Director judged Art Director Grand Prix (NMAs) and Best Social Storytelling (DPAs) respectively.

Congrats to our friend Nicola Hamilton (above) on her gold win and thanks for the personal invitation as reviewers to a photography portfolio review held by her shop, Issues.

Photos by Bryan Dickie, Vishal Marapon, and Christina "Chrissy" Mitolo from the portfolio review.

Sounds

Office Sounds Vol. 1

Music is a responsibility that's shared equally in the office. Check out our first playlist on Spotify to get a sense of the tastes at MbE.

Inspiration

From Sara, graphic design intern:

"After Made by Emblem launched the IATP campaign, naturally I looked up vintage airline ads out of curiosity. It's interesting to see which airlines have survived and which are long gone.

The first poster was created by Abram Games, a British graphic designer who also worked as an Official War Artist in 1942, creating recruitment posters. Raymond Ameijide was an American illustrator who used a 3-D layering technique by using cutouts of coloured paper which were then photographed. More examples of his work can be seen here.

The United Air Lines posters were illustrated by Stan Galli, a Californian illustrator whose work can be seen on magazines, postage stamps, advertising posters and even Navy training manuals. And lastly, Hubert Hilscher worked as an illustrator for Polish Airlines, and he also had an affinity towards circus cats.

(P.S. The Pan Am one is my favourite in case you were wondering.)"

Work

Designing a new culture and visual language for Toronto Pearson Airport's 50,000 employees.

Show & Tell

Our recent obsession: Cafecitos from a pocket-sized Cuban spot.
